‘Kong’ brings $70 million to Hawaii

The making of the movie “Kong: Skull Island” took place partly in Hawaii in 2015 and 2016 and employed more than 400 workers in the state. Filming on Oahu took place in Chinatown, Kualoa Ranch and the Ohulehule Forest Conservancy in Waikane Valley.
