Warriors stay at No. 4 in poll
Hawaii remained at No. 4 in Monday’s AVCA Division I-II Men’s Volleyball Top 15, a spot the Rainbow Warriors have held since Feb. 13.
There was no movement in the top five, led by unanimous No. 1 Ohio State (17-0). The Buckeyes, surviving in five Saturday at unranked Grand Canyon, again were followed by Long Beach State (15-2), BYU (14-2), Hawaii (16-2) and Lewis (13-3).
The Warriors, third in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation at 7-2, host No. 14 USC (6-10, 5-8) in 7 p.m. matches Thursday and Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center. Only Thursday’s match will count in the MPSF standings.
Sharks split doubleheader
Noelani Boyer hit the game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning to lead the Hawaii Pacific softball team in a 5-4 win over Missouri Western State on Monday at Howard Okita Field. The Sharks fell 3-2 to the Griffons in the first game of the doubleheader.
HPU’s victory in the nightcap snapped MWSU’s nine-game winning streak. Alexa McCoin pitched a complete game for the Sharks (7-3), while Nicole Viena led HPU’s offense with three hits and an RBI.
Shelbie Atwell went 3-for-5 at bat for the Griffons (16-4).

Makaela Williamson led the Seasiders’ offense, posting four hits with seven RBIs, two doubles, and a triple throughout the day. BYUH improves to 3-9 overall, 2-0 PacWest, while the Hawks remain winless at 0-7 overall, 0-4 PacWest.
BYU-Hawaii golfers remain in second
The No. 20 BYU-Hawaii men’s golf team sits in second place after two rounds of the East/West Bay Area Invite in Livermore, Calif., on Monday. The Seasiders finished at 15 over par, two strokes behind Holy Names, while Chaminade remains in 10th place at 67 over.
BYU-Hawaii’s Nicolas Herrera is fourth on the individual leaderboard at 2 over par. Justin Taparra leads Chaminade at 11 over. The 12-team competition will wrap up today at The Course at Wente Vineyards.
