Local author to read from debut fiction collection

Meet Honolulu author Stephanie Han, whose short stories have won awards from the Nimrod International Literary Journal and the Santa Fe Writer’s Project, from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 26 at Na Mea Hawaii. Han will read from and sign copies of her collection “Swimming in Hong Kong” (Willow Springs Books, $19.95), a finalist for the Associated Writers and Writing Programs Grace Paley Award and Spokane fiction prizes.

Han will read selections that are appropriate for all ages. The event is free, with books available for purchase.

MINGLE OVER PUPU AND COCKTAILS

Literary salon/pop-up saloon Books & Spirits will present two writers specializing in health and happiness how-tos from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28.

Rachel Abrams is the author of “Bodywise: Discovering Your Body’s Intelligence for Lifelong Health and Healing” (Rodale, $16.35), and Douglas Abrams is coauthor, with the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, of “The Book of Joy” (Penguin, $14.95), a New York Times bestseller.

The event will take place at the RevoluSun Smart Home at 210 Ward Ave., Suite 140. Tickets are $25, which includes a private reception with the authors from 6 to 7 p.m.; $15 general admission from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both tickets include pupu and two cocktails by Koko Head Cafe.
