The University of Hawaii women’s swimming and diving team set two meet records and leads after the second day of the MPSF Championships on Thursday at Monterey Park, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine’s Bryndis Hansen set a record in the 50 freestyle (22.38 seconds) and Franzi Weidner established a mark in the 200 individual medley (1:56.32).
Hawaii leads the seven-team competition with 272 points. UC Santa Barbara is second with 208.
Also winning for the Rainbow Wahine on Thursday were Monica Gavaris in 1-meter diving (283.85 points) and the 200 freestyle relay team (1:30.75).
The Hawaii men are second among five teams with 229 points. UC Santa Barbara leads with 273.
The Rainbow Warriors’ Metin Aydin won the 200 individual medley (1:44.66) on Thursday.
Hawaii Pacific sweeps Point Loma in hoops
Chauncey Orr scored 18 points and Connor Looney added 14 as the No. 8 Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team beat Point Loma 73-46 on Thursday at Moanalua High School.
The Sharks improved to 24-2, 16-2 PacWest.
Sterling Somers had 14 points for the Sea Lions (13-11, 9-10).

The Sharks fell to 18-5, 15-3 PacWest.
Roya Rustamzada had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Sea Lions (21-3, 15-2).
UH men’s golfers tied for 16th place
The University of Hawaii men’s golf team shot a second-round 301 on Thursday and is tied for 16th at the John Burns Intercollegiate at Wailua Golf Course on Kauai.
The Rainbow Warriors are at 23-over-par 599. Hawaii Hilo is 18th and last at 619. Virginia leads at 551.
Hawaii’s leading golfer is Cameron Kaneko, who is tied for 35th at 1-over 145. The Vulcans’ leader is Jared Kinoshita, who is tied for 68th at 149. Texas A&M’s Chandler Phillips leads at 133.
