Fire destroys unpermitted home on Big Isle
Big Island firefighters responded Monday evening to a fire that fully engulfed a home in Ocean View.
The fire occurred at about 6:45 p.m. at an unpermitted single-story structure on the corner of Tradewind Boulevard and Ocean View Parkway.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at 7:05 p.m. and extinguished it at 7:55 p.m., according to the Hawaii County Fire Department.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire department said the structure is considered a “total loss.” The cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.

Unpermitted. Is the the same as “undocumented,” meaning ILLEGAL?
I would imagine there’s a few of those homes out there. Its so far out there and covers a huge area.
