Insanity, the City/State looking for more money for TheRail debacle and yet offering a days pass giving consumers more options to keep down their costs. I don’t ride TheBus or would TheRail and feel you have to get the most out of consumers to be self-sufficient. Isn’t it a business bottom line to stay in business. “sigh” how can a private business survive losing money year after year?

Let me understand this. I pay a daily rate and can go anywhere? The rate is higher? So no more transfers? Will Medi Care still be $!?

Paper passes, always costed way too much money to maintain, and pass control, was always difficult to enforce.

Paper passes, are also most extinct, around the world.

Printing company – transportation company – delivery people – warehouse people – going out of business.

Paper passes only exist in 4th world countries. Hawaii solely manages to be the only place on the planet as the only 4th world socialist republic controlled by the “D”onkey dynasty.

HART already loses money, this will kill them completely as only the poor and seniors take the bus. Some people take the bus for a one way trip and car pool back due to logistics. This move does not solve anything. What they SHOULD have done is sell a day pass as an option and keep the standard fare with NO paper transfers unless they digitize it like the rest of the world has already done.

Ride the bus all day long, Circle Island tour – all for only $5.00!

    Obviously for tourist !

  7. Lana888 says:

The one drawback is that the passes are not available from the bus driver. They will have to make it very easy to buy a pass before you get on the bus, or it won’t work. But please, no fare increases. Public transportation is a public service (not a for-profit business, Pocho) and has to be kept affordable by the public to perform its function. $5 is already quite a bit of money if you don’t have much.

This is kind of a rate increase but somewhat in disguise. Because there will not be any more transfers allowed, people will need to pay another fare if
they get off the bus for something and then have to get another bus to continue their journey.
You can get a day pass for $5 but how many people will be riding the bus, off and on the entire day and as the bus drivers will not be selling the bus passes
this will make it difficult to get them in a convenient manner. So many may end up paying twice when previously they only had to pay one time with the bus
transfer. Don’ forget also that the $5 all day bus pass is always subject to go up at later date.

So for people like me who don’t live on a straight bus route and say I want to go to UH.. I have to pay more just to get to my one way route. Because you don’t have a bus that goes from Barbers Point to UH directly.
