The National Weather Service at 4:08 a.m. issued a wind advisory for Oahu and Kauai effective from noon today through 6 p.m. tomorrow.

A wind advisory means sustained winds of 30 to 50 mph are to be expected.

Weather officials expect a strong and fast moving cold front to approach the islands with increasing southwest winds rolling through the windward sides of Oahu and Kauai, including Kaneohe, Kailua and Lihue.

The front will come through Kauai tomorrow morning and Oahu by tomorrow afternoon, officials said.

Officials expect the southwest Kona winds to increase, reaching between 25 and 35 mph with localized gusts up to 50 pm.

Strong winds can result in power interruptions, down large tree branches and damage to weaker roofs.

Officials are urging the public to take precautions and secure any loose objects that could be blown around and possibly injure someone.
