Scores of Hawaii’s top high school student athletes gathered in Waikiki on Wednesday for the annual national signing day, which is known for a few moments of hat-picking excitement as football players and others make official their commitments to colleges and universities.
It should be noted that among the largest group of hard-working athletes enjoying recognition at the event was women soccer players. More than 30 graduating seniors will be joining women’s teams representing schools in the islands, on the U.S. mainland and in Canada.
