Hawaiian Electric Co. said Wednesday it opened an electric vehicle fast charger at Waianae Mall.
The charging station at 86-120 Farrington Highway is the seventh EV charger HECO has installed on Oahu.
HECO said a fast charger can recharge an EV battery to 80 percent capacity in less than a half-hour.
Among benefits of owning an electric vehicle include free parking at municipal lots and at metered parking stalls.
The Waianae Mall charger joins HECO’s chargers at Dole Plantation in Wahiawa, Koolau Center in Kaneohe, Kapolei Commons, 7-Eleven in Hawaii Kai and two at Hawaiian Electric’s Ward Avenue customer parking lot.
