The Pieology Pizzeria chain will expand with a minimum of two new locations this year, in Kailua and Pearlridge Center, the company announced.
The franchised, build-your-own pizza chain’s first Hawaii location is in Aina Haina. Pieology has been called the Subway of pizza. Customers select ingredients behind a glass screen as the employee builds the pizza.
Pieology is operated in Hawaii by Cotti Foods, which will open its next locations at 151 Hekili St., which is across from
Target in Kailua, and in Aiea’s Pearlridge, next to Sears.
The Kailua location is set to open in the summer. No date has been set for the Pearlridge opening.
“We are so grateful to the people of Hawaii for embracing Pieology the way they have,” said Cotti Foods’ president, Peter Capriotti II.
He pledged to continue supporting the community with such efforts as a $10,000 donation to Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui’s R.E.A.C.H. Out Hawaii program, providing academic support to students in the sixth through eighth grades.
Cotti Foods is based in California and operates
62 Taco Bell restaurants on the mainland and 43 Wendy’s restaurants, including seven in Hawaii.
Capriotti told the Star-Advertiser in July 2015 that he had exclusive rights to develop 20 Pieology locations in Hawaii.
