UC San Diego senior Lauren Boyer (Punahou ’13) was named the Western Water Polo Association player of the week on Tuesday.
Boyer recorded 12 goals and two assists at the UC Santa Barbara Winter Invitational over the weekend to help the Tritons finish 2-2.
She scored a career-high seven goals in a 15-12 upset of No. 10 Pacific (Calif.) in overtime.
In UCSD’s season opener against Sonoma State, Boyer found the back of the net a game-high four times to lead the Tritons to a 16-7 victory.
She had two assists in an 8-5 loss to Hawaii and scored once in a loss to No. 3 UCLA.
Boyer has won the weekly WWPA honor three times in her career.
Up next for UCSD is the annual Triton Invitational on Feb. 11-12.
