Two injured at Koko Head shooting range
Two men were in serious condition today after a gun “exploded” at Koko Head Shooting Complex.
Both 25-year-old men were injured at about 12:50 p.m. when a gun apparently exploded near where they were standing, an Emergency Medical Services report said.
One man sustained injuries to both hands, and the other man had an injury to his face. Paramedics treated the men and took them to a hospital.

scary
Yes U are.
I was right all along. You are 10 years old!
Yup, and you were right all along about Trump, eh?
Even a 10 year old could outsmart pea-brained klastri.
Considering the thousands of rounds that go downrange at this facility every day without incident it’s not at all scary – unless you’re adverse to loud noises.
But is it worth the risk, just for violent personal pleasure?
First of all there are risks in many things we do on a daily basis…i.e. driving, using the crosswalk, etc. and we decide ourselves on the benefits/risks. Second, the use of a fire arm is not necessarily violent personal pleasure. Just saying.
violent personal pleasure? Not even close to the violent barbarian treatment as you go out there and kill a live chicken, behead it and pluck it’s feathers before grilling it! You anti-gun nuts have a really distorted view of what is violent! LOL
Popeye’s already did the bad deed. Just roll up to the window.
awahana… Two questions: 1. What violence? 2. What risk? Aside from an occasional 1×2 piece of wood, the only casualties at Koko Head range are made of paper.
Thank you for your baseless judgement but, really, it’s not needed.
Black powder
…Or, a badly reloaded ammo. Could have been a lot of things.
From the TV news last night, it was on the rifle range and was certainly not black powder. I’m wondering whether the load was too hot or the rifle was poorly maintained or both.
Possibly another AR-15 chambered in 9mm, or perhaps the same one that went “kaboom” on the range last year.
Considering there were two injuries (which is odd, considering only one person handles the gun during firing), I’d say it was a hang fire. The trigger clicked, nothing happened, so the bystander decided to help out the shooter by taking a look as they opened the chamber. Then the round fired, causing injuries to the shooters hands and the bystander’s face.
Moral of the story: Wait thirty seconds after a hang fire before opening the chamber and ejecting the round.
Either it was a round loaded with the incorrect amount of propellant or there was an obstruction in the chamber or the barrel which are the two of the most likely causes of this happening…..
Sure wish more details were provided. Nothing on the 6 o’clock news. 🙁
Made in Mexico. Probably defective weapon.
Musta printed a plastic gun using their PC and a 3D printer.
“…gun apparently exploded near where they were standing”
