Kamehameha closed as police investigate shooting in Kaneohe
Police closed Kamehameha Highway this afternoon to investigate a shooting in Kaneohe.
The suspected shooter was in custody, and no injuries were immediately reported, police said.
Police closed Kamehameha in both directions between Hunaahi and Hunalepo streets at about 4 p.m. to investigate. Traffic was being rerouted on Hunaahi and Hunalepo streets.
The shooting comes one day after police fatally shot a man who police said hit an officer with a stolen truck at Malaekahana State Recreational Area.

Why wasn’t the shooter shot dead? Cops failed at their job.
Allaha…..”The suspected shooter was in custody, and no injuries were immediately reported, police said.” Maybe THAT’s why the shooter wasn’t shot dead.
scary area and…way too many guns out here
I have never heard kamehameha highway called kamehameha before. Maybe Kam highway. Thought article was about kamehameha school. Get it right.
My Hawaiian friend would say Kam is a Chinese guy, it’s Kamehameha show some respect.
Kamehameha killed more Hawaiians than anybody in history. Respect!
To bad they didn’t shoot and kill this guy as well.
Yep too bad.
The shooter should be in the morgue, not in a holding cell. Sorry, just like roaches, kill it before it multiplies!!!
Why did the Police not return fire?
Because if they did, the liberals would be leveling accusations of excessive force. I do not think so.
