Former Honolulu police officer Jessie Laconsay was sentenced Thursday in state court to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting an underage girl.
The sentence was part of a plea deal he negotiated with the prosecutor in exchange for his no-contest pleas.
Laconsay, 37, pleaded no contest in November to four counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault. A grand jury returned an indictment in June charging him with four counts of first-degree sexual assault instead of second-degree assault. First-degree sexual assault carries a mandatory 20-year prison term.
The charges accused him of sexually assaulting a girl who was under 16 years old over a 2-1/2-year period.
Laconsay, a 10-year veteran of the Honolulu Police Department, resigned Dec. 2.
Man arrested for alleged sexual assault
Police on Thursday morning arrested a 61-year-old Ala Moana man who allegedly sexually assaulted a female.
The man apparently turned himself in at the main police station, and was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of third-degree sexual assault.
The victim reported being sexually assaulted by the suspect, police said.
Police released the man pending further investigation.
