The University of Hawaii will open its 2022 football season with an Aug. 27 game against Vanderbilt at Aloha Stadium.
The game is the first half of a home-and-home series that will send the Rainbow Warriors to Nashville on Sept. 30, 2023, athletic director David Matlin said.
They will be the first meetings between the two schools. Under terms of the contract the visitors will each receive $500,000.
UH has not played a Southeastern Conference team at Aloha Stadium since beating Alabama in 2003. Its last game against an SEC opponent was a season-opening loss at Florida in 2008.
In 2022 UH also plays Western Kentucky at home as well as Wisconsin and Army on the road.
In 2023 UH also plays at Oregon.
