A 24-year-old Ewa Beach man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s mother last week.
Clad in a black-hooded sweatshirt and dark gray sweat pants, Jahsiah Price-Brown appeared before Judge Lono Lee at District Court on Wednesday on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
He was charged Tuesday night after he was released from the Queen’s Medical Center, where he was being treated for cuts to his arms and a drug overdose.
A preliminary hearing is set for Friday. Price-Brown is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
At about 12:50 p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of an argument at a home at 91-1199 Laulaunui St. Police said a 24-year-old woman had gone to Price-Brown’s home with her mother to break up with him.
When the officer arrived, he saw two women lying on the ground in front of the home, both with multiple stab wounds to the torso.
A witness told police he arrived home from work when he saw one of Price-Brown’s children run out of the home yelling for help, according to a court document. The witness, who lives next door, peered through the front-door window and allegedly saw Price-Brown stabbing the 53-year-old woman with a knife.
Police said the neighbor broke the window with a rock and unlocked the door. The witness managed to grab the woman and took her outside. He headed back to the residence and allegedly saw Price-Brown stabbing the 24-year-old woman as she was lying on the sofa.
Police said the neighbor helped the younger woman get outside the home.
The court document said Price-Brown barricaded himself in the residence before police arrived, but was ultimately arrested.
An officer recovered an 8-inch knife covered with blood outside the front door.
Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the two victims in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center, where the 24-year-old woman and her mother underwent surgeries, and were reported to be in stable but serious condition Saturday.
