For just the second time in program history, the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team made it into the NCAA Division II Top 25 on Tuesday. The Sharks are ranked 22nd.
HPU (11-0, 4-0 PacWest) last appeared in the Top 25 during the 1998-99 season, when it was ranked 23rd in the final poll.
The Sharks are one of just nine undefeated teams left in Division II. Conference opponent California Baptist is also in the poll — at No. 8. The two teams meet Jan. 3.
HPU returns to action Friday against Northwest Indian College for the Sharks’ final nonconference game of the season. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. at Blaisdell Arena.
