Ala Moana Center shooting suspect sought
CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for attempted murder in connection with a shooting at Ala Moana Center that critically injured a 20-year-old man.
Police identified the suspect as Dae Han Moon, 20, also known as Daehan Moon.
At about 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the fifth-level parking lot on the Ewa side of the shopping center, Moon and his friends got into an argument with the victim and his friends. Police said the argument intensified and Moon allegedly grabbed a firearm from his vehicle and shot the victim.
He and his friends fled the scene before police arrived.
Emergency Medical Services reported the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Paramedics administered advanced life support before transporting him to a trauma hospital in critical condition.
Earlier this month, prosecutors charged Moon after he allegedly struck a police vehicle he was operating when he attempted to flee from officers.

He then fled on foot but was apprehended by officers shortly after. Police said a firearm was found on the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Moon was charged with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and a related firearms charge. He posted bail on Dec. 7. On Dec. 19, Moon pleaded not guilty to the charges at Circuit Court, according to court records.
Judge Colette Garibaldi prohibited him from possessing any firearms and set his trial for the week of Feb. 21.
Moon has a criminal record of driving under the influence of drugs.
He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on Moon’s whereabouts is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.

Tough guy with his gun, but without it he will make someone a nice girlfriend in Halawa????❤️????✊????????
Izzat what passes for Christmas Spirit ’round here?
He looks like a wimp and a loser. Where’s his mommy? Trump should add these guys, to the deportation list.
The real wimps and losers are our lawmakers and judges. You can thank our active catch and release program for this crime.
Word is he is impotent, no cojones. Total loser.
Yobos be thinkin’ they gangsta
No, DD… Looks to me more like the voice of experience.
The tragedy for the family is that, according to the story, their son is on life support. He may be brain dead. I pray for the family and that the executioner is rounded up quickly. Maybe the courts, even the sloppy, lazy Hawaii courts, will put him away for life. He must be some kind of drug lord?
Just plain dumb comments as usual
Many people know who he is and where he is. I hope they come forward. Maybe a reward fund is needed?
Dangerous guy especially because the “ainokea” mentality.
Agree! On a different note hope you had an enjoyable Christmas, kiragirl!
You too! Keep those compassionate posts coming. You’re the few who always have a warm response verses the mean-spirited ones. Take care and many Happy New Years to you.
This is what happens when you give thugs second chances. These guys never change.
HPD catch and release program.
Such a knowledgeable comment!
HPD catches ’em but it’s the courts that let ’em go.
Once HPD catches them they have no control over who gets bail and who doesnt. All police and prosecutors can do is ask for high bail or no bail. Theres also limits as to how high bail can be set depending on the crime. Its up to the judge to grant it.
Therein lies the problem….Judges, jeez if I were family I would be doing everything in my power to have the judge removed from the bench. One of the nice things about Hawaii are the stringent gun laws….but what use are they if judges don’t use them to protect the population.
How cold blooded would you have to be to shoot another person in the back of the head. This is someone’s good son gone bad. If the victim dies, punishment after conviction should be an eye for an eye.
This squirt is as good as caught. His face is all over the news. Somebody will recognize him and it’ll be curtains for him. Let’s just hope the justice system does its job.
Fat pimply Asian kid gets gun, feels like man, messes up lives, goes to jail. The End.
deport him………..
…. to North Korea
And his family too
i’ll drink to that…………
“Judge Collete Garibaldi prohibited him from possessing any firearms…” Neva work, eh? Should’ve sent him to Arizona prison. For sure he won’t have any firearms with him. Sad judicial system. What now, when caught will he be sentenced by Garibaldi again? She going scold him again?
Best case scenario – he gets into a shootout with police, they kill him.
Win-win situation.
Police will approach him with guns drawn, hopefully no police or innocent bystander gets hurt in the crossfire. Dae Han is a wild animal on the loose.
Please tell me Dog The Bounty Hunter is hot on his trail.
Dog the Bounty Hunter only goes after people that owe him money.
He rammed a police car and had a firearm and still was allowed bail?….incredible since he already had a previous criminal history….and now he shot someone execution style…he needs to be put away if he’s apprehended or put down if he resists….
agree…attempted murder against a police officer and only 30,000 bail? wow.
“prosecutors charged Moon after he allegedly struck a police vehicle he was operating when he attempted to flee from officers.”
C’mon SA where is the editing man? Moon was not operating the police vehicle. The vehicle he was operating struck a police vehicle. Sheesh.
And yes, guess you can attack the police with your car, leave a firearm on the seat of your car and still get out of jail free. No wonder this other kid is brain dead. Our justice system is brain dead too.
“My boy is a good boy”
Wouldn’t it be cool to witness a total eclipse of the Moon?
What a rap sheet. He still is free? Something is wrong with our court systems. So confused.
Again, it’s called “Catch and Release”…
Hawaii gun-law say’s you have to be 21 year’s old to be in legal possession of a legal firearm, I see 3 count’s right there and counting. lock his jelly a$$ up in a mainland prison he will be BaBa’s Bee-atch.
Hopefully the next guy police arrest with an illegal firearm and endangering police officers, they post a higher bail. I see a lawsuit on this easy pass jail ticket to commit more crimes crime. Only way out for this sad story is to find the guy hanging in a tree somewhere to save tax payers millions in room and board.
The time is now for a “three strikes and you’re out” law. Life, no parole. Prison overcrowding? 6 to a cell. Problem solved.
HPD cannot catch this guy because there too busy investigating mailbox thefts. Way to go chief.
“there”??!!
So, in his previous arrest, a gun was found in his vehicle. Assuming that gun is now in police custody, how did he get this most recent gun to shoot the victim. Is HPD actively looking for whoever provided him with his guns? It seems the criminal element has easier access to guns that law abiding citizens.
Catch and release will continue unless our judges are held accountable. Insanity continues…….
20, going on 45.
