Hiker dies after collapsing at Koko Head
Honolulu firefighers responded to a hiker in distress Christmas morning at the Koko Head trail.
Five fire companies with 14 personnel arrived at Koko Head at 10:26 a.m. to respond to a male hiker in his 30s who was unresponsive and “not breathing properly,” according to fire officials.
At 10:37 a.m., bystanders at the scene performed CPR on the man until firefighters were able to get to the man at 10:49 a.m.
The man was airlifted off the trail and transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:08 a.m. An Emergency Medical Services report said the man was found in cardiac arrest.
Police said the 32-year-old hiker later died.
