China’s 1st aircraft carrier heads for Western Pacific
BEIJING >> China’s Defense Ministry says the country’s first aircraft carrier has set off for the Western Pacific for an open-sea training exercise.
State media say it is the first time that the Liaoning, which was commissioned by the Chinese navy in 2012, has headed to “distant sea waters.” The Western Pacific stretches from China to New Zealand and encompasses countries in the Pacific, Oceania and parts of Asia.
The statement said a navy formation including the Liaoning set off Saturday for training “in distant sea waters” as part of an annual training plan.
The Liaoning carried out training in the East China Sea on Saturday, according to footage shown on state broadcaster China Central Television.
The carrier recently carried out its first live-fire exercise.

The last 8 years changed the course of World History….not good for America.
I have every confidence in P.E.Donald J. Trump & V.P.E. Pence’s Administration to bring back AMERICA to Her proper leadership & standing in this World Order.

You are right. America has to lead or get out of the way. Obama and his ubangian wife should settle in Kenya and organize the community.
Well Said !!!
Ubangian? It’s pretty clear what you mean by that. May your own lips be scalded by your morning coffee and swell up to the size of pillows. That might cure you of your blatant racism.
Who’s the racist?
In keeping with the vow I made to myself, I respectfully disagree with you but wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas. If you have no where to go, you are welcome here. We’re having prime rib and we can always make an extra plate.
It might be their first, and they may have “commissioned” it, but they sure didn’t build it.
They bought it from the Russkies off of Ivanslist, and the listing didn’t include the engines. I wonder who they bought those from? A nation that still can’t build turbine engines for their own jet fighters or civilian transports isn’t worthy of being considered a modern industrial powerhouse in the 21st. century.
I hope they’ve purchased the naval equivalent of AAA coverage when their bought-not-built carrier breaks down in the middle of the world’s largest ocean. They certainly shouldn’t count on the US Seventh Fleet giving them a tow back to home port.
Great observation! My post was to point out that the Russian design(curving deck) of the carrier not knowing that it was an outright purchase of a modern weaponry. We do not sell any of our top-notch war planes or other weaponry to our allies. On the bright side, this design of aircraft carrier has never been battle tested until recently of the coast of Syria. Carrier landings and take-offs are nerve wrecking activities and are not for the faint of heart. Marine pilots used to practice night landing-take-offs formerly at the Marine Training facility at El Toro, Ca in the early 1990’s.
Send the 7th Fleet and buzz their decks.
