A vehicle crashed on a street in the Nimitz business district Thursday night after being driven off the airport viaduct heading Honolulu bound.

One man died and another person was left in serious condition after a multiple vehicular accident on the east-bound, H-1 Freeway viaduct near the Honolulu International Airport Thursday night, according to reports from the Honolulu Emergency Medical Service. One of the vehicles went off the freeway and landed near the Honolulu Volkswagen dealership along Nimitz Highway.
The person in the other vehicle was taken to a hospital in serious condition. Emergency personnel were conducting a medical evaluation of a third person, according to initial reports.
Vehicle hits, injures man in crosswalk
A 40-year-old man walking in a crosswalk at Kapiolani Boulevard and South Street on Thursday was hit by a vehicle and taken in serious condition to a hospital, according to the city’s Emergency Services Department.
The man was hit on his left side, and was able to walk but complained of pain in his left knee, said EMS spokesman Dustin Malama.
Paramedics were called at 7 a.m. and transported the victim at about 7:20 a.m., Malama said.
