A two-alarm fire that damaged a single-family home Saturday morning in Waianae may have been arson, Honolulu firefighters said.
The fire started at about 1:30 a.m. in a boarded-up home in the 85-1100 block of Kaneaki Street, said Honolulu fire Capt. Kendall Ching.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene found smoke and flames coming from the carport. They extinguished the fire at 2:27 a.m.
Ching said the home was reported to be vacant and no one was inside. Damage was estimated at $70,000 to the structure and $1,000 to the contents.
Firefighters turned the case over to police.
