Celebration of holidays happening in Sin City

With a week to go until Christmas, the casinos are pulling out the holiday stops.

Head to the “Holiday at the Park” display in The Park at New York-New York to see the biggest Christmas tree in town, standing 60 feet tall with 13,000 lights and 3,000 ornaments.

Other places to take in free holiday events include the LINQ Promenade (“Winter Parq”), Sam’s Town’s Mystic Falls (holiday laser show and “Cowboy Santa”), Silverton (“Underwater Santa”), Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, Venetian/Palazzo atrium, Ethel M Cactus Garden, Fremont Street Experience, Fashion Show Mall, the Town Square and Tivoli Village shopping districts, and Downtown Summerlin.

Taking holiday spirit(s) literally, all drinks are $2 casinowide at South Point, or just $1 if you pay with players club points.

Anniversary specials: Both the Orleans and the Gold Coast are running anniversary specials through Christmas Eve, with two-for-one buffets and $1 Bud Light and well drinks at all bars. The only requirement is that you show a B Connected players card. The Orleans is celebrating its 20th anniversary and Gold Coast its 30th.

Carpooling: Both Uber and Lyft have introduced their carpooling services in Las Vegas. Customers use the companies’ apps to participate in UberPOOL or Lyft Line, both of which function similar to car pools by allowing multiple riders on a trip to split fares. The downside is you have to be willing to ride with others, and it will take longer to reach your destination.

Question: When does the Las Vegas Chick-fil-A open?

Answer: The long-awaited opening date of not one, but two Chick-fil-A restaurants is Jan. 26. The first two Nevada locations of the franchise of both are on the east side, one near Sunset Station on North Stephanie and the other on South Eastern. While you’re waiting, the famous Papaya King hot dog restaurant out of New York has recently opened a restaurant across from the Hard Rock.
