HPD SWAT teams capture burglary suspect in Kaneohe

Trucks from HPD’S Specialized Services Division were parked along Puuohalai Place in Kaneohe this morning.
The suspect who allegedly broke into a home on Bayview Haven Place in Kaneohe has been caught, according to police.
He was caught around 12:15 p.m., police said.
Honolulu Police Maj. Gordon Gomes said officers responded to a report of a male suspect who allegedly broke into a home in Kaneohe at about 7:30 a.m today.
The suspect fled after he was spotted by the home’s resident.
Police were called. Gomes said officers saw the suspect and gave chase.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s wearing a black hooded sweater and sneakers. He allegedly burglarized another home on Puuohalai Place.

Police believed he was armed with a gun.
No injuries were reported.
Gomes said they set up a perimeter and are focusing their search in a heavily vegetated brush area behind a home on Puuohalai Place.
A police helicopter and search dogs are also assisting.

I wonder if this guy will get a “break” by a judge after he is caught and sentenced, just like how yesterday’s Kahala burglary suspect, Ivan Kong. According to the morning paper, “Kong has about a dozen criminal cases filed against him since 2009, including burglary and vehicular theft. In a prior incident s state judge in January 2011 said he was going to give Kong a break by not sentencing him to consecutive terms and instead gave him five years in prison for three house burglaries and a motor vehicle theft, according to state court records.” Well, he must’ve just pau serving his 5 years and went on a crime spree again yesterday. He injured a 69-year-old woman during the first of 3 incidents. Luckily, a good Samaritan saw what was going on, gave chase and subdued Kong. Lock these guys up. Forget about giving them a “break” because most won’t learn. They’ll come out and do the same thing again. Our revolving door justice system. That’s why these guys have a long list of arrests and convictions.
We need to set up legal protocols where Judges can be held legally accountable for letting criminals off for no reason, they go out and commit new crimes, injure or kill people.
If the USA President can be investigated while in office so can a sitting Judge. No one is above the law. Perhaps after a few Judges are sent to jail the rest will wise up and start doing their jobs.
And no, this will not have a “Chilling effect” on the legal system. By contrast Judges will know from day one if they willfully fail to do their jobs they will be held accountable, their feet to the fire, draining the swamp.
There may be a growing outcry to loosen homeowner or renter gun legislation. Protection against growing crime may be needed.
Recidivism is only natural as at the end of the string is 3 squares, a roof overhead with clean showers/toilets and no health insurance premiums to pay. To top it off, no income and associated taxes. Why not?

Why do the cops waste so much effort trying to catch these criminals. Even when they catch them they will be released before the cops get home for dinner. To bad the fishing industry didn’t have such a good catch and release program. If they did we might still have some fish left over to catch.

Yeah, I know. Just get irritated by the media mis-identifying the division. They do so much more than S.W.A.T. functions. Besides, SSD is shorter than S.W.A.T. 🙂
Bet this guy has a long arrest/conviction history. No worry, another judge might give him a “break.” Be out in no time.
What may be the Pearl City norm, may not qualify as the average level of educational difficulty faced at public schools. There’s no low-income housing in Pearl City or apartment dwellings, where you have a more transient population. To be sure, many students out of Pearl City have done well, despite coming from working class backgrounds. But don’t expect the same results from teachers and principals in low-income, high immigrant, transient areas like Kalihi on Oahu and Kihei on Maui. Instead of blaming, why doesn’t the Department Of Education put more resources into these areas?

I got confused with the story line; seemed to lag behind in time. I got the impression that the police caught the guy and the story line towards the end says they were looking for him???
Another catch & release. Why even arrest these criminals if we keep letting them go.
