Nominations are requested by Wednesday for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Peacemaker Award, sponsored by the Church of the Crossroads for over 30 years.
The nominee should be a Hawaii resident whose life and work exemplify a lifelong concern and commitment to the ideals of peace and social justice for which King gave his life; organizations may also be nominated, a news release said. Selection is based solely on the information provided in the supporting documents submitted by person(s) or organizations submitting nominations.
Recent honorees include the Rev. Samuel Cox, former director of Hale Kipa; Ellen Godbey Carson, an attorney and community leader; and Henry Curtis and Kat Brady of Life of the Land.
