Hawaii is among the leading states in hydrogen fuel cell technology, according to a report released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Hawaii ranked fifth after California, Connecticut, New York and Colorado as the top fuel cell states in the U.S. Department of Energy’s State of the States: Fuel Cells in America 2016.
The Servco Hawaii station, aiming to open in January, was highlighted as the state’s first public hydrogen station.
“Hawaii is taking strong steps to become a leader in hydrogen and fuel cells and the technologies are set to play a strong role in the state’s energy transition,” the report said.
