19 people displaced after fire at Big Island home
Nineteen people were displaced Saturday after fire destroyed an unpermitted structure in Ocean View, Hawaii island firefighters said.
Firefighters responded at about 3:35 p.m. to 92-8730 Lehua Lane and found the single-story structure engulfed in flames. All the occupants had already evacuated to a neighboring property.
Ten firefighters brought the fire under control by 4 p.m., but the 1,800-square foot structure was a total loss.
Firefighters said multiple families living in the dwelling.
The cause was undetermined.
