A high-surf advisory remains in effect until at least 6 p.m. today for the east-facing shores of the main Hawaiian Islands.
Surf of 6 to 10 feet is forecast, gradually diminishing this evening and Sunday, the National Weather Service said.
A gale warning also is in effect for the channels between Molokai, Maui and Hawaii island, as well as Maalaea Bay south of Maui and waters leeward of Hawaii island. East wind of 40 mph and seas of 10 to 15 feet are expected through 6 p.m.
Elsewhere, a small-craft advisory is in place, with seas of 12 feet and wind of 30 to 36 mph.
Maui and Hawaii counties are under a wind advisory through 6 p.m. today, with possible gusts of more than 50 mph.
