Chainsaw, spearguns, soda bottles among unusual items stolen from home

Hawaii County Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for an antique rifle, chainsaw, old spear guns and antique milk and soda bottles stolen from a vacant house near Honokaa.

Police said the thief stole the unusual items from a vacant house in Ahualoa between Sept. 1 and Nov. 13.

The items included a World War II 6.5 millimeter Arisake rifle, 200 antique milk and soda bottles, two old spear guns, ammunition, kitchen knives and an Old McCullough brand chainsaw.

Police ask anyone with any information about this case or the stolen items to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Officer Robert Border at 775-7533. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at ( 808) 961-8300.

    What were those items doing in a vacant house in the first place. Could be some kind of collector or someone who knows the value of the things.

    Very irresponsible to leave a firearm (antique or not) in a vacant house. Stolen firearms usually end up in the hands people who aren’t legally allowed to own one. Not a good thing.
