Thieves take mailboxes in Hilo

Culprits allegedly stole multiple cluster mailbox units between Hawaiian Beaches and Four Corners Kapoho in Hilo, according to a news release from the police department.

Police are investigating the theft that occurred sometime between Monday and Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 935-3311 or CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.

      Allie, I frequently agree with you, but Puna isn’t even close to “lawless.” Ten years ago, maybe it was so. Today, not so much, thanks mainly to grassroots Neighborhood Watch activists who forced the police to allocate more resources. Crime is way down from what it was.
