Gabbard meets with Trump as he works on building his administration
President-elect Donald Trump met today with Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who is reportedly being considered for a job in the Trump administration.
Gabbard released a statement after the meeting saying that she was invited by Trump to the meeting, where she had a “frank and positive” discussion with Trump about Syria, the battle against terrorism and other policy issues.
Gabbard’s statement did not say whether there is any specific job she is seeking in the Trump administration.
Erika Tsuji, a spokeswoman for Gabbard, on Friday denied rumors that Gabbard is being vetted for a Trump administration post, saying that Gabbard “just got re-elected and is focused on serving Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District.”
However, according to a tweet this morning from CNN’s Sara Murray, “a source tells me she’s under consideration for State, Defense & UN Ambassador.”
The New York Times, citing an unidentified senior Trump aide, said Gabbard is being considered for several positions, including ambassador to the United Nations.

Gabbard said in her statement today that “I felt it important to take the opportunity to meet with the President-elect now before the drumbeats of war that neocons have been beating drag us into an escalation of the war to overthrow the Syrian government — a war which has already cost hundreds of thousands of lives and forced millions of refugees to flee their homes in search of safety for themselves and their families.
“While the rules of political expediency would say I should have refused to meet with President-elect Trump, I never have and never will play politics with American and Syrian lives.”
McClatchyDC.com reported that Gabbard met with Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence this morning, but Trump spokesman Jason Miller said it was “premature” to discuss Gabbard’s potential role in the Trump administration.
Gabbard was a strong supporter of Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary, but eventually shifted her support to Clinton after the primary.
The representative of Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District at times has been a critic of the Obama administration’s handling of issues related to Islamic extremism, and Gabbard has won praise from Stephen Bannon, who is Trump’s chief strategist.
Gabbard said in her statement that “serving the people of Hawaii and our nation is an honor and responsibility that I do not take lightly. Representing the aloha spirit and diversity of the people of Hawaii, I will continue to seek common ground to deliver results that best serve all Americans, as I have tried to do during my time in Congress.
“Where I disagree with President-elect Trump on issues, I will not hesitate to express that disagreement. However, I believe we can disagree, even strongly, but still come together on issues that matter to the American people and affect their daily lives. We cannot allow continued divisiveness to destroy our country.
“President-elect Trump and I had a frank and positive conversation in which we discussed a variety of foreign policy issues in depth. I shared with him my grave concerns that escalating the war in Syria by implementing a so-called no fly/safe zone would be disastrous for the Syrian people, our country, and the world. It would lead to more death and suffering, exacerbate the refugee crisis, strengthen ISIS and al-Qaeda, and bring us into a direct conflict with Russia which could result in a nuclear war. We discussed my bill to end our country’s illegal war to overthrow the Syrian government, and the need to focus our precious resources on rebuilding our own country, and on defeating al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other terrorist groups who pose a threat to the American people.”

…old story.
“He will never be my president because he doesn’t read books, can’t write more than a sentence or two at a time, has no strong loyalties beyond himself, is more insular than any New Yorker I ever knew, and because I don’t see anything admirable or honorable about him. This sets him apart from other politicians. The disaffected white blue-collar workers elected a Fifth Avenue tycoon to rescue them from the elitists — fine, I get that — but they could’ve chosen a better tycoon. One who served in the military or attends church or reads history, loves opera, sails a boat — something — anything — raises llamas, plays the oboe, runs a 5K race now and then, has close friends from childhood. I look at him and there’s nothing there.” Garrison Keillor
Tulsi go for it. You are one of a few who can see clearly what is happening in Near East Nations.!
Tulsi better not get into a room alone with Trump, he might grab her you know where
O’reilly Factor had a person interviewed about Muslim Groups, owing private land and having military exercises in the United States, about 20 or so camps spread around the nation.
Obama proclaimed that these groups are not doing anything wrong so to leave them alone. The FBI and CIA knows of these groups and nothing but monitoring is being done. What do you suppose they are doing military exercises on American soil?
Watch his report regarding this and I’m pretty sure we will be hearing more about this.
So who cares about whoever your quoting?
Give the forever opportunist Tulsi credit for realizing she has zero importance or influence as a very junior representative from a tiny state. I agree with her that there may be more for her with a Trump administration in some very minor post. Not sure what education or experience she would bring but as trump might say, “she decorates a table.”
You don’t even have your facts straight. The reason she met with Trump is to try to end the insane policy in the Middle East of funding terrorist groups like al Qaeda with the purpose of regime change in Syria. This policy has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Syrians and created millions of refugees. This is from her own statement about the meeting: “President-elect Trump asked me to meet with him about our current policies regarding Syria, our fight against terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as other foreign policy challenges we face. I felt it important to take the opportunity to meet with the President-elect now before the drumbeats of war that neocons have been beating drag us into an escalation of the war to overthrow the Syrian government—a war which has already cost hundreds of thousands of lives and forced millions of refugees to flee their homes in search of safety for themselves and their families.
You are right about the Neo-cons and their chokehold over Congress and USA policy. I agree with Tulsi on this. She is no expert and lacks much education but she does see the obvious: the knee-jerk American slavery to Israel and Israeli interests does hurt America. Many know it but are scared to say it.
allie, allie allie, “She is no expert and lacks much education”.Heard this before about all the Trump supporters and guess what happened. If you don’t get it by now you never will. The over educated are just sheep. Tulsi and Trump. Great Americans that will get it done. For the country not the party.
I don’t think she’d workout as an ambassador.
Allie your education has been a complete waste of time and taxpayers money.
Allie, Allie, Allie, before the election you were praising Tulsi Gabbard for her independence and her accomplishments. Now that the election is over and your precious Hillary got defeated and Tulsi is being considered for a post in the coming Trump administration, you have changed your tune so quick.
lol, “smh” “sigh” hahahahaha
Regardless of being a “junior representative for a tiny state” having traits and attitude (right stuff)”trumps” any “experienced” congressional members. Put it this way, I would trust Ms. Gabbard over and above the rest of the Hawaii Congressional Team…by the way…who are they?
Completely agree with that statement!
Tulsi has class and character. Tulsi for Governor!
“Window dressing” may be the word… Calling Romney, Gabbard, Niki Haley to parade in front of the press is good theater to promote the idea of Trump being inclusive. So far his picks do not indicate he is actually going to pick anyone but loyalists, but this pageantry is good public relations.
When is Putin coming for an interview? Lol, nah give the man a chance, right?
According Mr. Snowden, an ex-Hawaii Democrat praising civil servant that turned traitor, even Putin seems to be doing better than Obama. We know you’re trying to be funny, it’s not working, we can read right through your bitter comments!
Dragon, Snowden? Lol, follow him on wikileaks, lol.
Putin interviewed Trump when he went to Russia to hold his Miss Universe Pageant. The interview must have gone well now that hey have such great admiration for each other
Exactly right, NanakuliBoss!
Wow Allie. As PE Trump never made the statement,“she decorates a table.” there is no real meat behind it. However, that you even though it and penned it to paper so to speak sure puts you in that misogynist group you liberals sure talk about often. I am beginning to see a common thread in the terms of liberals; that being projection. Everything you you fear about yourselves gets projected to your so called enemies. Finally I am beginning to understand the liberal psyche, um no I am not, your mental disorders are better for professional to handle.
Human psyche, not exclusive to liberals.
Why throw in the label “liberals”? Do you recognize someone mirroring back your politics? move AmeriKKKa where you belong.
wrong hon…I am a political independent. We all need to be wary of trump. He is not a Republican or a conservative as you will soon see. Plutocrat all the way. And we will all suffer.
At least she’s pretty enough to make Trump’s team, that’s a plus.
Allie you are FULL of it. I hear your Mama calling. LOL
Why are you hating on Tulsi? Do you hate Trump or voted for Hillary? Tulsi is one sharp cookie and played her cards right. She backed Sanders because Hillary was no help. Then she backed Trump by not helping Hillary. Now she is meeting with the President. It helps to have a pretty face with Trump. haha
One of your all time ridiculous statements. Congratulations! It is a shame that you will never be of any importances in this World and certainly have nothing to offer as Tulsi does. She is smart and might be the best out of all Trump is considering.
Yesterday, the media was speculating that Tulsi is running for the US Senate against Mazie Hirono. Today they’re speculating that Tulsi is trying to get a job with the Trump Administration. Maybe it’s time for the press to just stop speculating since they obviously don’t know what they’re talking about.
Well, maybe Tulsi doesn’t know what she’s doing -which way does the wind blow? too bad she’s so young as we’ll have her around for along time, opportunist that she is.
Everyone has a price eh?
if we aren’t willing to even sit down and talk with people we don’t agree with, how are we going to move forward as a country? Tulsi doesn’t play partisan games, that’s a big part of what’s appealing about her. If you want to hear what she herself said about the meeting, read this: http://gabbard.house.gov/index.php/press-releases/655-gabbard-statement-on-meeting-with-president-elect-donald-trump
She is a tireless self-promoter with a lack of basic skills. But who knows. Trump is bizarre. Anything is possible these days.
Describing yourself again biach? Got over it!!
allie wishes someone would grab him by the critch!
Give her the Crocodile Dundee test 😉
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6fgPX3NjyA
“self-promoter with a lack of basic skills.” Really? Yet she’s the representative of Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District,a graduate of HPU,a graduate of Officer Candidate School at Alabama Military Academy, the first woman to finish as the distinguished honor graduate in the Academy’s 50-year history, recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, a Vet,promoted to Major in 2015….I could go on and on, but you can look it up on Wikipedia.
Tulsi could very well be the First Female President of the USA. She certainly has a long list of accomplishments.
Thank you for taking the time to remind these partisan, insider, hacks what a real statesman looks like.
Is it must me or do I sense a bit of envy of Ms. Gabbards accomplishments? There are quite a few to mention…see prior posts.
“She is a tireless self-promoter with a lack of basic skills. But who knows.” Sounds like Allie describing herself to me.
IRT allie: thank you!
Tulsi has seen the truth: The Syrian rebels supported by Omama are ten times worse than Assad! She might play an important role of ending the Syrian conflict!
The rebels destroyed Syria, not Assad!
Curious allie: what have you done to serve your country?
Wow allie that is a lot of bashing for someone who has done absolutely nothing with her life other than serve pizza to bunch of drunks.
Maverick? Not a party loyal. Appears she has her own mind and bull-headed? Just like Trump!
I hope she gets a job with them so we can have someone else in that congressional seat.
Exactly what this country needs. IMO, party loyalists are a major part of our country’s problems. These people put party ahead of country.
I so agree. If we ever really reach the point in this country where people of different parties can’t even sit down and talk…then I don’t even know what to say. It’s insane.
Tulsi stands up for what’s right and she has real integrity. She always puts the people first and that will never change.
Good comment Poke. No matter your party, all must work together to make America great. It would be an honor and a great opportunity to contribute at a higher level. Go Tulsi!
Sounds like the media is selling another hype – type story.
tulsi you are one of the few democrats that put country before party and therefore you’re a patriot!
you rock!!
aloha nui loa!
I totally agree. It’s just so bizarre to me that some progressives would attack one of our own – a prominent progressive – for taking up the opportunity to influence our president elect. Tulsi’s always up front and clear on the issues and she never wavers. At least Trump is willing to sit down with her. People need to stop jumping to conclusions she hasn’t been offered a post. They’re just TALKING.
Sorry but no one can influence Donald except for his children. Look at what is happening to Christie and Giuliani…heading by the wayside after they have exhausted their usefulness. As long as Tulsi is willing to be loyal and say/do whatever Trump says, she should be ok. She needs to start practicing her “Yes Master” and “Whatever you say Oh Great One” now…
Jealousy will get you nowhere. Go Tulsi girl.
You have actually pointed out some characteristics of a progressive. By my observations they tend to only support free speech if they agree with what is being stated. They also tend to want to tell you how to live. If you’re not politically correct, from their point of view, they think you’re evil. They appear to want to protect the minority but at the same time they will brutally punish anyone who they don’t agree with. They justify their behavior, even if it’s illegal or unusually harsh, because in their minds the end result meets their view of correctness.
The list is Tough and Long for all the Candidates!Though Trumps selection of Tulsi is an Honorable one. Pres. Trump shows he can reach out ,regardless of party affiliation,Gender base or sexual orientation, he’s merely looking for the Best qualified!
The question is: Is Tulsi willing to give up the Socialist ideology and become a conservative?
….OR Become a Red Republican, like her DAD once was? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! True Colors never change!
Unlike Dad,who changed his colors from Red to Blue for the sole purpose of securing a re-election bid .
Changing parties to keep your position in politics has a long ingrained tradition here. Remember Frank Fasi?
This is all over speculation. She’s just sitting down and talking with the president-elect like the mature person that she is.
Moi lee in foreign politics labels like conservative or liberal are meaningless! Political acumen is what matters there, and Tulsi has it!
…..”Meaningless labels”?You better tell that to Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schummer, if Liberals are ……meaningless. However, I do agree Tulsi does indeed “has It”, maybe the only Hawaii Congressional member that has it! The three others are….. meaningless!
Tulsi wAS NEVER A DEMOCRAT HON..SHE TOOK THE PARTY LABEL SO THAT SHE COULD WIN IN A MONOPOLY PARTY STAtE.
So Trump is not a Republican and Tulsi is not a Democrat. That sounds like a good combination for fixing what’s so wrong in our country. America first and all the other stuff later.
Smart career move if true, and would be a great ride for maybe a good eight years. You can’t blame her in the least for backing a winner.
She always had her own mind, unlike some of the rubber stamping party faithful. It’s a quality to be respected.
The fraudulent “winner” will be gone in 4 years if not impeached long before that.
Get over it biach!! The people have spoken!!
dsl didn’t your mommies tell you ? If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything. Calling names ricochets onto you.
Actually, literally, that’s not correct. Over a million more people voted for Hillary Clinton than for Donald Trump. Sorry to water down your argument with a fact.
Sorry to waste YOUR Water too,Btaim. “Actually and Literally” dsl is Correct! The People has spoken, via The Electoral College votes. The same Votes who got GW Bush into Office and the same votes who got your’s Truly into Office……..Barrack Hussein Obama….sorry to water down your argument. lol.
Lest not forget boys and girls (and “other”) that both the Trump and Clinton campaigns understood how the game was played and what needed to happen to secure victory. Hillary Clinton, being the veteran political “old hand” should have been the shoe-in, especially when you consider her campaign spent over double what Trump spent per vote.
Bottom line: Trump’s campaign for all its missteps and squandered opportunities, simply spent what little resources they had more intelligently than Clinton’s did.
Die-hard Trump deniers take heart: there is still a snowball’s chance in hell that Hillary could still be sworn in as our 45th President. All it takes is enough “faithless electors” to believe Donald Trump is a madman, a despot, or the antichrist. That’s all.
btaim…the latest info….
Electoral Vote Trump 306, hiLIARy 232….Popular Vote Trump 62.9 M to hiLIARy 62.2 M…so President Elect Trump won BOTH.
Governors GOP 36 to Dems 16
State Legislatures GOP 35 to Dems 15
IRT Keonigohan: Good job with those numbers, lets just see these liberal/ anti-Trump/pro-Clinton supporters disprove ANY of those numbers, especially the popular vote that they always lie about Clinton winning. In fact throw up the WEBSITE that you got those numbers from as proof to these backward thinking losers. #MAGA
And 1.7 million more people voted for Clinton than for Trump.
Correct, the most current numbers show clinton with 63.7 million votes to trump’s 62 million. With absentee ballots still to be counted from california, her popular vote lead is expected to grow.
@ bsdetection & skinut…
“…”Was it because of the POPULAR VOTE or was it because of the ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTE,” Clinton said. “What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?! I LOST MY AZZ ANYWAY!!”
It’s true, she lost. But it doesn’t help the discussion when you post inaccurate information.
IRT to skinut and bsdetection and Keonigohan: Keoni just show them that you weren’t lying about the numbers, then we can all laugh at them because they are SO delusional. Come on guys quit it with the fake numbers on Clinton winning, Keonigohan has spoken only the truth so at least treat him with respect and honesty. #MAGA
If so, then perhaps he/she can tell us where he got the numbers. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t from an alt-right website specializing in half-truths and conspiracy theories.
Not quite true. The Electoral College has spoken; but, not the Popular Vote.
JohnRice do you have anything original to say besides “you lost” and quoting inaccurate popular vote totals?
The real deal as of today JohnRice
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/11/21/election-results-electoral-popular-votes-trump-clinton/94214826/
FEDEX is on the way allie, bringing you cheese and crackers to go with your whine.
allie, don’t be so vocal about who you support next time. It makes you look like a fool, a poor loser, and then a crybaby later if you continue the rhetoric. The winners are no wiser but gambling on a chance for better things to come. Change can be good. Optimism is good for the soul.
Allie, We all know you were daydreaming of HitLIARy granting you and countless other lazy students with messed up priorities tuition loan forgiveness. She would never have delivered any of her promises despite her lies. Best you find a job quickly to pay back the Chicano Studies classes you took at the university for the last 15 years. Welfare checks are going to get harder to come by with a Republican president cutting off the spigot for Communist style handouts.
It’s true, she lost. But it doesn’t help the discussion when you post inaccurate information.
Libs must be grinding their teeth.
So do you have an opinion on this JohnRice?
It amazes how far she has gotten. She did nothing of substance locally and then got voted to D.C. and hasn’t done anything of substance and she just keeps moving up. But then that’s politics.
You don’t have to BE good if you LOOK good. Beware the articulate incompetent. One thing I’ll say about Tulsi. She wore the uniform. She served her country. That counts for something in my book.
What uniform did Trump ever wear? And when did he serve his Country? It certainly wasn’t in Vietnam when he was draft eligible. Nor does he even pay his fair share of taxes. He’s a vile Chicken Hawk!
He will serve as the Commander in Chief. Can you top that? I bet he won’t return the Marine salute holding a cup of coffee in his hand.
She got into the military when she had no better options. The military is a great career path, and it certainly doesn’t mean one is a patriot. It can mean you haven’t any better options, that you want a lower tax rate than the rest of the country, that you want a 50% retirement for life at 40 years old, and so on.
I suspect she’d have quite a bit more influence with Trump than Mazie or Schitz.
DINO. Opportunist.
That would be a good assumption; her father changed party so he could re-elected every time he ran for his seat….even though his views were so opposite of that the party he switched to.
tulsi is smart and she knows life on the plantation is begging for more crumbs which is what we get from the dems who talk big but deliver nothing
if she can get an appointment from the trump administration, she can promote and get more for hawai’i.
aloha tulsi, you rock sista!
I applauded her when she quit the DNC because of their lack of integrity & I would take her as the first female POTUS over Crooked Hillary any day of the week. Doing what’s right is far more important than party loyalty.
Are you a sore Bernie bot loser?
Nope. Even though I served my country for 20 years in the military I’m just a deplorable citizen.
Agreed. Doing what’s right should always be more important then party lines. Again Wonderful job Tulsi. Make us proud.
It’s a good thing Hawaii doesn’t have Innovate, Referendum, and Recall like all the other states… the Democrat Party of Hawaii would be calling for her ouster for “Consorting With The Enemy”. LOL. LOL. LOL.
They might call for it, but considering her popularity and willingness to work across the aisle, I doubt the people would consider it.
Gabbard is an independent thinker who is not afraid to challenge her fellow Democrats. Trump is also very independent and vigorously challenges many of his fellow Republicans. Both put the country ahead of blind party loyalties. Trump values Gabbard’s talents and she has much to offer our nation in the new Trump administration. People are still far too partisan. Folks should put the nation ahead of political party emotionalism.
Not being a party loyalist and being an independent thinker are good traits. However, not having any ideology other than getting media attention is not.
Take care of yourself. Forget the people you promised to represent. The Tulsi story continues and the sellout continues. What next?
All of the Oahu politicians have sold out the people. She is the status quo.
Logical– she supported Sanders and Sanders and Trump share policy proposals in several areas. Sanders just said if Trump fulfills his promises, he will support him. Two voices for the working class vs the rich establishment.
Read Trump’s book. He ran as a republican but clearly is neither. His choice for most accomplished past presidents are LBJ and Reagan. LBJ for his ability to get both the Civil rights act and Medicare through congress.
This is a surprise, but maybe real smart move by Trump.
It sounds like a good way to get rid of her as our Congresswoman. I hope she takes it. 🙂
You’d prefer another space-filling, automaton like Mazie or Brian?
She has military training and can handle him.
Expect many strange things to occur with this new president; the Wall?
Why would the Wall be strange? Imagine if you live in Arizona and your backyard is the Mexican border.
A traditional “wall” can be easily bypassed over or under it. If I were to chose how to protect the border I personally would have turned the border into a nuclear spent fuel/waste storage facility. The land bordering the US/Mexico is useless for the most part but perfect for long term nuclear waste storage from both an economic and strategic standpoint. Anyone crazy enough to cross will definitely have a short life span to look forward to. Now, if he’s a smart businessman, that would be the most prudent choice as the US does NOT have a viable storage solution to the nuclear waste at this time.
dragoninwater, you just exposed yourself about how ignorant you are about nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is something you don’t dump anywhere you feel like.
I think dragon was just being a mite sarcastic.
Now, if you want to consider something less pie-in-the-sky, a more modest proposal if you will, then how about we maintain a “wall” of Hellfire missile and 7.62x51mm minigun armed drones? Pretty expensive to be sure but certainly doable with off-the-shelf technology and upgradable to laser and railgun technologies as they come on line. Don’t forget too, that economy of scale applies here as in all production items. If we deploy thousands and thousands of drones, biased somewhat around the border “sister cities,” why, think of how low the unit cost will drop!
And imagine the hordes of video gamers rushing to the military recruiters to sign up for actual hands-on “combat” experience (at least until fully autonomous drones are perfected).
Did you even read what I posted? I just stated where it should be stored. Last I recall Yucca Mountain’s long term nuclear waste storage program was shut down indefinitely. This leaves US non-governmental entities, such as utilities, without any designated long-term storage site for the high-level radioactive waste stored on-site at various nuclear facilities around the country. Since you claim to be a subject matter expert in nuclear waste please do share with us where it get’s stored these days.
You go girl……
hooray! if anyone of our delegates to congress deserves a strong look for a spot close to the Pres-Elect, it has to be Rep. Gabbard. she has shown that she has the moxy, the spunk, and the courage to know how to truly work with diverse groups – despite having to carry the label of being “Democrat”. the principles by which she performs her work is much more important than a party affiliation. the others in our delegation would do well to not only see but also emulate some of her abilities. good luck to Rep. Gabbard!
Don’t care how much anyone hates Trump, he is the President of the US and has the power of providing or withholding billions of federal funds to Hawaii. Fact that Gabbard is important enough to meet with Trump means she is a active power player. Hanbusa, Hirono and Schatz are the wannabe politicians who will not even get the time of day from the Trump administration much less Trump himself. I hope Gabbard tells Trump about the make work, useless, special interest controlled Oahu train to nowhere project that will waste $10-20 BILLION of Hawaii and federal taxpayer dollars. Withdraw those rail FTA funds and instead put in upping the strength of the military in Hawaii.
that’s the sad part is we have to work together. Hawaii’s Democrats need to work through their divisive nature and find common ground. I see Trump as an independent more then a republican.
If liberals continue down the wrong path, instead of opportunity that every new administration brings, we’ll receive nothing and we’ll have no one to blame but them.
inverse you have a sad attitude. Good politics does not consist of who is able to grab the fattest pork barrel for your state. With Inouye we received more than our share of the pork at the expense of the taxpayers in other states. Such attitude is destructive for our nation.
With Trump, one should just expect the unexpected.
Remember….with Trump loyalty is more important than knowledge or ability to do the job. He has demonstrated that thus far with his cabinet selections. Tulsi will have to be a very loyal soldier or she would be “out”…if she is ever “in” that is.
Fun Game: Pick out which of these comments come from members of Tulsi Gabbard’s Hare Krishna cult.
And that’s why I have to hedge on her. I’ve seen a list of the amounts of contributions she got from Krishna people and factions. I believe she married a devotee as well.
All in all, Allie is correct.
Early on in her career Ms. Gabbard commented about the juvenile behavior of members of her congressional members (Democratic) in not allowing for anyone to deviate from partisan beliefs. I believe she likened it to the cliques in high school…”you no agree with me, so you not my friend!” This behavior continues today amongst many. In my opinion, Ms. Gabbard is a Democrat…a reasonable, moderate Democrat who will do well to represent mainstream American. Good Luck! 🙂
Gj Tulsi. It should not matter if there’s an r or d next to their name. We have to work together as a country to move forward ion a positive direction.
Go Tulsi, continue to use common sense and speak your mind.
Pretty quick to bail on the people of the 2nd District. Thanks… see you later…
she is the only one to see that hawai’i is, in the minds of the mainland, a plantation and they treat us as such. and the elected dems feed on that for more crumb handouts. jump off the plantation tulsi and join the trump team. convince them that hawai’i is not a plantation and we deserve reapect
Aloha God bless!!
Rep. Gabbard’s full press release is below. She should be commended for challenging the neoconservative warmongers from both major parties.
Press Release
Gabbard Statement on Meeting with President-Elect Donald Trump
November 21, 2016
New York, NY—U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) today released the following statement on her meeting with President-elect Donald Trump regarding Syria:
“President-elect Trump asked me to meet with him about our current policies regarding Syria, our fight against terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as other foreign policy challenges we face.
“While the rules of political expediency would say I should have refused to meet with President-elect Trump, I never have and never will play politics with American and Syrian lives.
“Serving the people of Hawaiʻi and our nation is an honor and responsibility that I do not take lightly. Representing the aloha spirit and diversity of the people of Hawaiʻi, I will continue to seek common ground to deliver results that best serve all Americans, as I have tried to do during my time in Congress.
We discussed my bill to end our country’s illegal war to overthrow the Syrian government, and the need to focus our precious resources on rebuilding our own country, and on defeating al-Qaeda, ISIS, and other terrorist groups who pose a threat to the American people.
“For years, the issue of ending interventionist, regime change warfare has been one of my top priorities. This was the major reason I ran for Congress—I saw firsthand the cost of war, and the lives lost due to the interventionist warmongering policies our country has pursued for far too long.
“Let me be clear, I will never allow partisanship to undermine our national security when the lives of countless people lay in the balance.”
Tulsi is destined for bigger and better things than our stagnated democratic cesspool.
Agreed. She is going to be in the Whitehouse one day.
IRT kalaheo: first she needs to get out of the “dog house”!
Tulsi is the most productive politician Hawaii has right now in my opinion.
Agree
Gabbard is the only one in Congress from Hawaii who has shown courage and been willing to call a spade a spade unlike the other three who are nothing but flacks for the
Democratic party and busy enriching themselves. Clearly the powers that be have an eye on Gabbard and they have been grooming her for awhile for higher office.
It is no accident that she has caught the attention of Donald Trump and his core advisers such as Steve Bannon of Breitbart News and one of Trumps most trusted advisors.
She may in fact at some point in the future be a possibly Presidential candidate but I suppose I am getting ahead of myself.
The powers that be are always looking for people with potential to help and to promote. The downside to this of course that these people have their agenda and the
“golden boy or girl” can become corrupted along the way. Multiple people are being groomed at the same time as not all will make it and most will fall by the wayside.
These people do not leave anything to chance and are very patient. They think long term and will spare no effort to help their selected people along.
Tulsi for the Senate
Interesting proposition/speculation for a Maverick Congresswoman that does unconventional actions but really has not done much nor been responsive to her constituents. Leave an all Blue Hawaii Congressional delegation and State govt. which has been made somewhat irrelevant with the Red Tide in the CONUS and work for Pres Elec Trump. Later come back and challenge Lazie for the Senate, thus avoiding a primary fight. Potentially a brilliant political move…You heard it here first folks!
Looks like the Democrats in Hawaii have a black sheep in their party doing something they don’t approve of. What are the odds she switches parties? hahahaha
Gabbard long ago established she is an opportunist without principle. Should fit right in with a Trump administration.
Yet Democrats voted her in by a landslide. haaaaaa

I wonder where she stands on concentration camps for American Muslims? I voted for her to fight for us in the House. Now it seems that she may considered by the Trump administration for a job offer. This has been a historic month but to think that an elected official from the state of Hawaii MIGHT be working for the people who are proposing concentration camps similar to the WW2 AJA internment camps is stunning.
IF (a big if) those camps become reality, and IF she takes a job with the Trump administration, the fact that she is from the state that produced Daniel Inouye, Sparky Matsunaga, and the 100th Battalion is sickening.
I’ll reserve judgement for now. We’ll have to wait and see. Still early yet.
Concentration camps for American Muslims? Did you manufacture that yourself or did you read it on some nutcase left wing blog. In either case it sounds like you are a textbook lefty cool-aid drinker.
AFC – Good Grief relax with the never-ending nauseating worship of the AJA in Hawaii.
You better put on your tinfoil hat again. I hear the extra terrestrial aliens from Area-51 have escaped and they want to have a word with you!
You go girl!
Mazie is fearful of WWII Internment Camps, Brian wants to ban the host of Watters World from Honolulu’s China Town (LOL, it’s nasty for the most part) and Colleen has recycled herself once again.
While Tulsi is looking forward. I’m thankful she represents my district. OBTW no one is perfect.
🙂
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Reverting to family raectionary politics.
You voted for her! haaaa
I’d say to Rep. Gabbard, time for bigger and better things. Like, Dr. Jeanette Takamura, recently retired Dean of the School of Social Work at Columbia University. Dr. Takamura served in President Bill Clinton’s cabinet as Asst. Secty of the Dept. of Health and Human Serbices. Dr.Takamura went on to bigger and better things after serving in President Bill Clinton’s Cabinet.
I guess all that money she spent on makeup finally paying off. Trump always like the beauty.
Mahalo! On behalf of the citizens and taxpayers of Hawaii Mazie and Colleen should visit the cosmetic counter at Niemen Marcus and invest in Chanel or Lancôme. They can afford it.
There’s only so much lipstick you can put on a pig and I don’t condone experimenting cosmetic products on animals.
The upside of Trump’s victory and Tulsi’s political philosophy is awareness of the growing disenchantment of Americans with party politics that no longer speaks to the needs of America and the world. A lot of the people who voted for Trump ignored most of the usual issues and banked on the possibility for “real change.” For them, Hillary simply represented more of the same, which they consider unacceptable. The pundits in the media relied on their own front channel surveys regarding the will of the American people, and establishment politicians placed all their eggs in that same basket. Surprise. The genius of politicians like Trump and Tulsi is their openness to the majority of Americans who fall outside the established media’s radar. These are the Silent Americans who inhabit the back channels of social media. Today, a disruption in politics is in full swing, fueled by the disenfranchised who are now in the majority. This Trump ascendancy may very well portend the end of government by the party and the beginning of government by the people. This means that media and politicians can no longer overlook the back channel for a pulse on the people’s will. Hopefully, this will unclog the political process and allow the best decisions to flow regardless of party affiliation. With today’s social web, our leaders no longer have an excuse to ignore our will. If PE Trump keeps his fingers on our pulse, he may become a very effective president. The fact that he’s opening himself to a wide range of counsel (e.g., Tulsi), including our sworn enemies, is actually a huge plus. Our nation’s hopes are riding on Trump’s shoulders. Let’s hope he’s big enough for the task. Go USA!
I’ll take her over the collective idiocy of mazie, hanabutta and schïtz.
i’ll take a shlitz anyday
Tulsi Gabbard will serve the Trump Administration as Donald’s Private Couch Secretary.
hahahahahahhahaha…………………………………KAWIKA CROWLEY for SECRETARY OF DEFENSE !
CHUCKY DJOU FOR WHITE HOUSE LAWN MAINTENANCE………………..
Lazy Mazie for White House maid and Shitz for Poop Scooper. $15/hour minimum wage with possible bonuses.
She’d better cover her Pu**y.
If anyone can make the President elect change his ways it is Tulsi. Tulsi will be so great for the country. Amazing. Fantastic. We are so proud that that Tulsi keeps herself and Hawaii in the national spotlight. Can’t wait to see her set Bannon straight on what it means to be of mixed decent. Gooooo Tulsi.
Where have you gone, Linda Lingle?
Wanna read of what people from the bowel of our cities says? Read no further than from this forum! Majority on the naughty list. The very few on the good list are still here and they are the Angels and Messengers of God! To them thank you!
A positive move all the way around.
1. She can do more if she is on good terms with the new administration,
2. She can get the president’s attention on issues in the Pacific,
3. She can help the Democratic party by being a liaison with Trump,
4. If she advances in this administration, Hawaii benefits,
5. Party affiliations aside, this is about the only way to advance in politics (networking),
6. It is in keeping with Obama’s point of view, if Trump succeeds, America succeeds,
7. It is a good career move,
