Before heading to Maui, No. 5 North Carolina survived a test in Manoa in an 83-68 win over Hawaii tonight at a sold-out Stan Sheriff Center.

Allen gave UH its lone lead with a layup two minutes into the game and North Carolina opened up a 30-18 lead on Hicks’ dunk with 4:48 left in the first half. The Rainbows responded with a 9-0 run and closed to 30-27 when Purchase hit a 3-pointer from the top of the arc with 2:29 left.
The Tar Heels scored the final five points of the half and took a closer-than-expected 35-27 lead into halftime. UNC grabbed 12 offensive rebounds, contributing to 17 second-chance points.

good game even though the score does not show it.
still a big work in progress.
one bright spot we held there leading scorer barry to only 2 points and he averages 21 points a game nice try warriors playing against a taller and very physical team. need improvement but you can get it done.
There’s a measuring stick here as to who the UH scorers are especially against a quality team in NC.
I would say, the defense stood tall for a shorter team as well.
Good job. Hanging in there with the big boys. Hope the season bodes well for you guys considering you are a new bunch of players.
they did good..much closer than everyone thought it would be
