The Hawaii men’s and women’s swimming teams combined to set three school records during the first day of the A3 Performance Invitational on Thursday in Monterey Park, Calif.
Franziska Weidner, of Nuremberg, Germany, broke her own school record en route to winning the women’s 200 individual medley in 1:57.92.
Aydin Metin, of Cologne, Germany, set a school record and won the men’s 200 IM in 1:45.74.
The Rainbow Wahine’s 400 medley relay team of Tahna Lindquist, Jane Ip, Bryndis Hansen and Weidner took third with a school-record time of 3:41.86.
The women are second out of 10 teams and the men are fourth out of five.
Meanwhile, at the Texas Diving Invitational in Austin, Texas, UH’s Johan Sandell, of Huddinge, Sweden, took fifth in the men’s 1-meter event with a score of 327.80.
