Man charged with terroristic threatening against Nanakuli woman
Prosecutors charged on Tuesday a 37-year-old man, who was arrested Sunday for allegedly trying to kill a 33-year-old Nanakuli woman with his vehicle, with two lesser offenses.
James A. Akau, who has no local address, was charged Tuesday with one count of first-degree terroristic threatening and one count of second-degree terroristic threatening.
Police said Akau was in his vehicle when he jumped a curb, then drove toward the woman at about 10:41 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Sunday.
The woman ran into her home, and avoided being struck by the vehicle, police said.
Police arrested him at 11:23 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of second-degree murder, driving without a license and criminal contempt of court.
Akau’s bail was set at $22,000.
