Waialua wins OIA D-II football title
Tevesi Toia threw for 256 yards and accounted for five touchdowns to lead Waialua to a stunning 36-35 victory over Waipahu to win the OIA Division II title tonight at Aloha Stadium.
The Bulldogs (7-2) stopped Waipahu (8-2) on fourth-and-1 with 38 seconds remaining to clinch their first OIA football championship in 61 years.
Waipahu beat Waialua 26-7 in the regular season.
Risein Campbell caught two touchdown passes and the Bulldogs intercepted three passes on defense.
Waipahu quarterback Braden Amorozo finished 20-for-27 for 327 yards and four touchdowns.
Both teams had already clinched a berth in the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA State Football Championships beginning Nov. 4.

A DII team beating a DI team. Even sweeter. Yes, Waipahu with its size should never be in DII.
The size of the school is big, yes. But did you see their record the past several years?
