The timetable for finally developing Kapolei West, comprising up to 2,500 homes as well as a golf course and school, is uncertain. But with the purchase of the 514 acres by China Oceanwide Holdings Ltd., it likely will materialize at last.
Nationwide, Chinese investors sank billions in U.S. real estate over the past year. This one company also plans upscale resort and condo units for Ko Olina.
Naturally one wonders how affordable Kapolei West homes might be. According to its website, China Oceanwide participates heavily in “poverty alleviation,” so perhaps there’s hope.
