Eight teams that played in the NCAA tournament last spring highlight the University of Hawaii softball team’s 2017 schedule.

The Rainbow Wahine open their 56-game regular-season slate — which includes 39 home games — with a Feb. 9 doubleheader against Sacramento State and Boise State in the Hawaii Paradise Classic.

UH will host five nonconference tournaments, with NCAA tournament participants Oregon State, Oregon, Utah and Marist among those visiting Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Utah and Oregon advanced to the Super Regionals in May.

The Wahine play two NCAA tournament teams, BYU and Texas State, during their six-game stay in Las Vegas for the DeMarini Desert Classic in the second week of the season.

UH will play four of its seven Big West series at home, beginning with UC Davis on March 31-April 1. The Wahine play at defending conference champion Cal State Fullerton on April 21-22. They close the regular season with a home series against Long Beach State on May 11-12. The 49ers received an NCAA at-large bid last season.

UH is in the midst of fall practice and will face Chaminade and BYU Hawaii in the Kamaaina Classic on Nov. 4-5. The tournament ends with UH’s Alumnae game. The Wahine close the fall exhibition schedule with a game against UH Hilo on Nov. 12 on Maui.
