Man who died after being pulled from water off China Walls identified
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 30-year-old man who was found unresponsive Wednesday afternoon in the ocean off China Walls in East Oahu as Zachary Felipe.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The victim was found unresponsive in the ocean about 1:40 p.m. and was brought to shore. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have classified the case as an unattended death pending the outcome of the autopsy.

Here we go again, another tragic loss of life at the same spot and now how many life-long stories of trauma for the poor families left behind. They should just put up a tally board with chalk markings to be changed when the next drowning, etc. occurs there. Can anything ever be done to make any difference?
You can’t stop people from drowning in the ocean. I suppose the State could try to make it illegal to go within 100 feet of any shoreline, but what happens when people go anyway? Fence off the ocean? As sad as this is, the fact is the ocean ALWAYS presents a drowning hazard. There isn’t really anything to “do” about it.
