So will Ala Moana Center’s Target store be named Targét (with a French accent) or Target? After all, Ala Moana has gone upscale.
But perhaps it’s an attempt to draw more regular folk to the mall. The Minneapolis-based retailer recently filed building permits for interior renovations of the space that formerly housed Nordstrom on Kapiolani Boulevard.
Those with an average-Hawaii-resident budget — not a foreign-visitor budget — will appreciate the addition of Targét with its hip housewares, stylish clothing, cosmetics and more. Not sure, though, if Walgreens across the street and Longs Drugs farther Ewa in the mall will appreciate the added competition.
