A 76-year-old man died early Sunday after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle while trying to cross Kalanianaole Highway in Waimanalo.
The incident was reported at 4:46 a.m.
The man was taken in critical condition to Castle Medical Center, where he died.
The driver of the SUV, a 49-year-old Ewa Beach man, was not injured.
Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision. It is not yet known whether excessive speed was a factor.
This was the 41st traffic fatality of the year on Oahu, compared with 34 at the same time last year.
