Kalani 27, Roosevelt 12
Falcons quarterback Seth Tina-Sobarano threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Falcons improved to 2-2 in OIA Division II play with a victory on homecoming night.
The win was dampened when senior receiver Ethan Zippay suffered a back injury on the final play of the third quarter. Zippay was hit crossing the middle on a passing route and was eventually placed into an ambulance.
Kalani coach Scott Melemai said Zippay was talking and had movement in his arms and legs. He said Zippay “had tenderness in his back.”
Tina-Sobarano was 8-for-14 for 209 yards and receiver Brandon Kim caught a 68-yard touchdown pass and finished with 127 receiving yards.
Isaiah Rosa and Shastyn Kekahuna had rushing touchdowns for the Rough Riders (1-5, 1-4).

Pearl City 21, Waipahu 7
Isaiah Asinsin passed for one touchdown and ran for another as the Chargers fended off the Marauders at Aiea High School field.
Pearl City improved to 4-0 in OIA Division II play (4-1 overall).
Rainy weather seemed to affect Waipahu much more, and the Marauders (3-1, 2-1 OIA D-II) suffered their first loss.
“We’ll bounce back,” Waipahu coach Bryson Carvalho said. “I’m not happy about the loss, but we can learn from this.”
Asinsin fired a 16-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Daniel Sarajina on a post route to open the scoring with 7:25 left in the first quarter.
Asinsin scored the Chargers’ second touchdown on a 5-yard bootleg to the left, scooting to the end zone untouched. The Chargers faked the PAT kick and Kasey Kikuyama found Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the end zone for two points. Pearl City led 14-0 with 1:05 left in the opening quarter.
With Waipahu’s offense struggling — the Marauders had no completions and 20 rushing yards in the first half — Pearl City tacked on a third TD in the second quarter. Brody Padilla, a starting defensive back, lined up wide and scored on a reverse toss for a 9-yard touchdown. The Chargers led 21-0 with 2:44 remaining in the half.
Waipahu’s offense started warming up in the second half, but the Marauders’ drive to the Pearl City 11 stalled. The Chargers stopped 6-foot-4, 320-pound Lafo Seiuli-Sanchez on a fourth-and-2 dive play.
Waipahu scored on a 25-yard pass from Braden Amorozo to Ezekail Kai Kapanui Reyes with 4:25 remaining.
