The Chaminade women’s soccer team dropped its season opener 2-0 to Cal State Dominguez Hills on Tuesday. The Toros (3-0) scored twice in the first half — Louise Kallin scored in the 25th minute and Moa Ericksson found the net in the 42nd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Brandee Lane recorded seven saves for the Silverswords (0-1). Caitlin Tatemichi recorded CU’s single shot on goal.
Chaminade, HPU players earn honors
Chaminade middle blocker Daisia LaBrie was named Defender of the Week and Hawaii Pacific outside hitter Perla Escobar was named Freshman of the Week in the PacWest Volleyball Weekly Awards announced Monday. The awards were based on games played Aug. 25-Sept. 4.
LaBrie, the reigning PacWest Freshman of the Year, recorded 23 total blocks and 62 kills as the Silverswords jumped to a 5-0 start to the season.
Escobar posted four double-doubles in the Hawaii Invitational with 62 kills and 57 digs. She finished with a career-high 23 kills and 18 digs in a five-set win over Montana State Billings on Saturday. The Sharks are 3-2 in preseason.
