The Royal Hawaiian Center said Monday three new restaurants, including a Michelin-star dim sum eatery, will be added to its food portfolio.
Tim Ho Wan, a Hong Kong-based hole-in-the-wall eatery developed by chef Mak Kwai Pui, is expected to open in Royal Hawaiian Center in early 2017. The eatery, which is known as the cheapest Michelin restaurant in the world, will be on the third floor overlooking Kalakaua Avenue. The chain has locations in Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka in Malaysia, Jakarta, Sydney, Melbourne and Thailand. Plans are underway for the dim sum restaurant to open its first U.S. location in New York soon. Menu mainstays include baked bun with barbecue pork, steamed chicken feet with black bean sauce and steamed pork dumpling with shrimp.
“We are excited to bring new concepts and famous dining experiences to our center,” said Marleen ‘Akau, vice president and general manager of The Festival Cos., the management and leasing company for Royal Hawaiian Center, in a press release.
This holiday, Dean and Deluca, the upscale grocery store, also will open a new Grab &Go concept store offering sandwiches and salads. The store will make its debut in the first-floor Building B space left vacant by Royal Fish’s relocation.
Also coming for the holidays is Maui-based Tito Ernie’s, which will fill out the new dessert section of the center’s second-story Pa‘ina Lanai Food Court. The locally owned and operated dessert shop will sell gelato and sorbetto, premium ice cream, halo halo, dessert waffles and crepes. Other menu items will include gelato sundaes, gelato baked shakes and sorbetto-based smoothies.
