FBI: Hawaiian Airlines incident ‘not an intentional threat’

The FBI released two Hawaiian Airlines passengers who were detained by federal authorities Wednesday night after flight attendants noticed suspicious behavior on a flight to Seoul, which had to return to the islands.
Hawaiian flight 459 left Honolulu Airport at 2:45 p.m. with 286 passengers.
In a statement, Hawaiian said the aircraft returned at 8:35 p.m. after flight attendants reported suspicious behavior by a passenger about three hours into the flight.
The plane was met by FBI agents after landing safely at the airport.
The FBI said “in an abundance of caution,” the FBI, state Department of Public Safety and Transportation Security Administration personnel inspected the plane and its contents.
“Our investigation indicates that the incident in question was not an intentional threat to the crew or passengers on board the plane,” said Matthew McDonald, FBI Supervisory Special Agent, in a written news release.

The two people detained were released and no charges are expected to be filed.
McDonald said the FBI would not release any other details about the incident.
The remaining 284 passengers departed for South Korea onboard a different Hawaiian Airlines aircraft at about 12:30 a.m. this morning.

Airline personnel are quick to pull the plug when they encounter any behavior that might be interpreted as suspicious. I was on a flight to Hawaii years ago and some man was complaining loudly about his seat location. I was surprised that he was warned and then quickly removed from the flight. The man was astonished.

SA does not do any real reporting. Much easier and cheaper to just take what the authorities tell you and print that and call it news.

What authorities won’t tell us is that this was a very carefully orchestrated and executed “test” by law enforcement to see how passengers and crew members would react to such a situation.
