Rescue crews pluck 3 from water
Honolulu lifeguards and the fire department rescued three males Saturday off of the Mokulua Islands in Kailua.
Shortly after 1 p.m., fire rescue responded to a dispatch call of swimmers in distress after family members reported them overdue after they swam to the islands. Lifeguards and fire rescue headed toward Mokulua on jet skis in choppy ocean conditions when they came across the three males — one in his 40s, the other in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy — and brought them to shore.
Shayne Enright, spokeswoman of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, said the swimmers are OK and did not suffer any injuries.
