Suspect in fatal hit-and-run crash in Aiea Heights released

A small memorial with flowers sat next to a toppled sign Sunday in the 99-360 block of Aiea Heights Drive where a yard worker was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver Saturday.
Police have released a 42-year-old Mililani man while the investigation continues into the hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a man who was trimming grass on Aiea Heights after he was struck by a vehicle on Saturday.
The suspect was arrested Sunday night. He was released Monday night, but the case remains open while a negligent homicide investigation continues.
The city Medical Examiner’s Office has withheld the name of the dead man, pending notification of relatives. A friend, however, identified him as Brandon Kishida, 42.
Police said the man was doing yard work along Aiea Heights Drive at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a silver Honda CR-V near Hoio Street. He was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.

Very lazy article. The suspect was revealed by all the TV stations last night as a Hawaiian entertainer and Uke player with many DUI arrests and traffic citations. Why did he flee the scene leaving this good samaritan neighbour who was doing yard work for an elderly lady to die? Did he not want his alcohol or meth level to be discovered? Odd that the SA refuses to do any investigative reporting. They continue to lay of reportorial staff, though.

Yep that’s all he is, a suspect. If there is enough evidence they will charge him and he will be the “defendant”. Yes he is entitled to a fair trial and a competent defense and if the facts are there and a jury of his peers finds him guilty he will face the consequences. So…. everyone take a break. No need get hu-hu. No need call this guy out….yet. Just chill until the investigation is pau.
If he resisted arrest and the cops shot him dead no need investigate. Would have saved a lot of time and money.
If he truly lent his car out he would need to name the person(s) that were in possession of the vehicle at the time of the hit/run accident. If he’s truly innocent he should rat out on the driver. Not only that, he should have called the police the minute he spotted blood, dents, etc on his vehicle once it was returned to him. Let not forget that he also should have immediately make the call to the PD once he saw his plates in the news. His failures to do due diligence in the matter already places him in a very questionable position where the jury will suspect he might be guilty of the crime and will likely not be in favor to easily dismiss him.

Save, you’re right. I park my truck on the street when I clean my front yard and the strip between the street and walkway. I would rather my truck get hit than me.

I agree. People only leave because they are doing something wrong.
If he did it by time they get around to him he will have another ticket for reckless driving or something worse. From what I read he has been driving recklessly for 20 years.
How about we take away his driving privileges for awhile, or is that playing God too.

So ironic because lots of headlines say firearms are dangerous. But since this alleged used a vehicle he was released?
Entertainer or no entertainer. If you hit someone you need to come to their aid. Maybe this person was still alive and if you the person who hit them had maybe called 911 you could have saved their life. The newspaper mentioned that this guy had prior arrests. He can now sing the blues in jail. Maybe he was drinking and didn’t want to get arrested but think of it, he could have saved a life. So sad, but lock his ass up along with his ukulele and vaseline.

As a society, we seemed to have lost a lot in the way of doing the right thing or even having social skills (“may I?”, “thank you”). People who are brought up right know right from wrong. Our state has evolved from the Aloha State to the Ainokea State. How sad!

Wow, this guy is a real piece of work. Just checked his criminal background and he has had several TRO’s against him as early as 6 weeks ago. A serial harasser it looks like to me. Haven’t even looked at the driving record. Big trouble. If it smells like fish then gotta be fish.
