Company involved with Pro Bowl hired to market Hawaii sports
The Hawaii Tourism Authority contracted with the New York-based Ascendent Sports Group to provide sports marketing services on behalf of the State, it was announced today.
HTA said the one-year, $200,000 agreement includes an option for it to extend the deal for up to four additional one-year periods.
“Ascendent Sports Group offered the ideal balance of global sports contacts and an understanding of Hawai‘i’s uniqueness as a destination,” said Leslie Dance, HTA vice president of marketing and product development, in a statement.
“We believe Ascendent is going to open a lot of doors for HTA and create new opportunities to showcase Hawai‘i to the world,” Dance said.
Ascendent’s experience with Hawaii sports events includes the Ironman Triathlon and NFL Pro Bowl, HTA said.

Why because Ascendent has done such a good job with the Pro Bowl?
What other sports or venue does Hawaii have that needs to put Hawaii in the spot light??
Just a waste of State funds.
POSSIBLE KICKBACKS, FREE TRIPS TO NEW YORK.
We don’t have a local company that could do the job?
More pay-to-play.
So while we sit back and try to reason this deal out, there’s some outfit back in New York whose getting $200,000. doing didlley-squat to hype sports??, in Hawaii.
I think the SA pretty much covers anything and everything sport wise in Hawaii. How much coverage does the HTA think?, or is it just an under the table kick-back deal thinking no body is going to question or notice such wasteful spending?
