The Go Nuts (Pacific Southwest) baseball team finished pool play at the 12U Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Md., on Wednesday with a 6-2 victory over Team Midwest (East Denver, Colo.).
Koby Moananu earned the win, tossing one shutout inning with a strikeout and a hit. Trayce Young went 3-for-3 while Kaden Stremick, Reece Carganilla and Aaron Mills logged two hits each.
As the top seed in the American pool, Go Nuts will face off today against Harford County, Md., in the United States semifinals at 6:30 a.m. HST.
Hawaii track earns academic honors
The University of Hawaii women’s track team was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) list of All-Academic Teams for the 12th consecutive year on Wednesday.
The Rainbow Wahine posted a team grade-point average of 3.17. In order to be named to the list, a team must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
