What’s left of a former hurricane and two tropical cyclones could affect Hawaii’s weather through next week.

Remants of former Hurricane Frank are expected to bring an increased in humidity and rain first to Hawaii island then to the rest of the island chain Wednesday into Thursday.

Behind Frank, Tropical Storm Howard is continuing to weaken as it moves over colder water 1,535 miles west of Baja California.

At 5 a.m. Howard’s winds declined to 40 mph, from its peak at about 60 mph Tuesday.

The storm is heading west-northwest at 14 mph and is expected to cross into the Central Pacific early Thursday as a remnant low with winds below 40 mph.

Howard is on a path that could bring rainy and humid weather to Hawaii this weekend.

A third tropical cyclone reached tropical storm strength late Tuesday night. Ivettethe, the tenth tropical cyclone of the East Pacific hurricane season, was moving west-northwest at 17 mph with sustained winds of 45 mph. Ivette is expected to become a hurricane on Thursday.

Ivette is still too far away from Hawaii to say if or what effects it will have on the state’s weather. It may bring some surf to the islands if it reaches hurricane strength and could also bring a change in winds, and increased rains and humidity depending on its exact path and intensity.

The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for a 40 to 50 percent chance of rain through Saturday with the approach of Howard and the remnants of Frank.

Tradewinds are expected to increase to 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts today.

Partly sunny skies are expected today. But skies could become cloudier later today and Thursday as Frank’s remnants pass near the islands.

Frank could also weaken the breezy tradewinds.

Forecasters said this weekend’s weather depends on the actual track and timing of Howard.
