Fresh off an impressive TKO win three weeks ago, Kapolei’s Louis Smolka will return to the Octagon on Oct. 1 for a flyweight fight against Sergio Pettis, the UFC announced Monday.
The bout will take place at UFC Fight Night: Portland inside the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.
The 25-year-old Smolka, who trains with HawaiiEliteMMA, is 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the UFC with four consecutive wins. He is ranked ninth in the organization at 125 pounds and has won three of his last four fights by either TKO or submission.
Pettis (14-2, 5-2) is coming off back-to-back wins by unanimous decision and is ranked No. 15 at flyweight. He is the younger brother of former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
No main event for the card has been announced.
Go Nuts victorious in Maryland
The Go Nuts baseball team defeated the team from Bel Air, Md., by a score of 4-1 in pool play at the 12u Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Md., on Monday.
Kamaehu Sanchez earned the win for Go Nuts, pitching 31⁄3 innings, allowing just two hits and one run. Kayden Stremick and Jameson Hussey each were 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Hussey also added four RBIs.
The game was the feature game of the day, but numerous rain and lightning delays throughout the game forced the game to start late.
